With the evenings getting brighter and longer and the leaves returning to the trees, it’s evident that the spring is well and truly upon us!
With a wealth of idyllic green spaces, plenty of pub gardens and, of course, homes with fantastic private gardens, Wimbledon is the ultimate place to make the most of the sunshine and warmer weather.
Read on to discover our five top things to do in SW19 this spring…
1. Picnic at Cannizaro Park
Located just off Wimbledon Common, next to Cannizaro House Hotel, Cannizaro Park is just one of the charming green spaces in the Village. Made up of woodlands, flower gardens, ponds and sweeping lawns, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a spring picnic with friends.
Plus, there is also a café for those who don’t fancy the DIY approach!
2. Coronation Celebration at the Windmill
This spring is particularly unique with the Coronation of King Charles taking place in May.
Local landmark the Wimbledon Windmill is hosting a special parade and event on Saturday 7th May. Part of the nationwide event which will see iconic buildings lit up across the country, visitors will marvel at the spectacular illumination of the Windmill where two processions will culminate. Following the parades, a candlelit celebration will be held with performances by St Mary’s choir and other local performers.
The event is free of charge with a suggested donation of £10 per family – all donations will help fund the ongoing upkeep of Wimbledon and Putney Commons and the Wimbledon Windmill.

For pub gardens, the Rose & Crown and Crocket Billet offer ample outdoor space whilst top places for food include the Dog & Fox and Hand in Hand (plus, this one’s dog-friendly!)
4. Wimbledon Market on the Piazza
Held every month from March through to November, Wimbledon Market offers a global mix of tasty street food and an array of local traders selling an eclectic fusion of art, clothing, homeware and jewellery.
If you love the atmosphere of a good market, then get down to Wimbledon Piazza for their spring markets taking place on 11am – 6pm May 4th & 5th.
