Game, Set, Match: The Wimbledon Tennis Championships Are Back

The lawns have been mowed and strawberries freshly picked… Wimbledon season is upon us!

Dating back to 1877, the Wimbledon Championships is the world’s oldest tennis tournament, and widely regarded as the most prestigious. For the first two weeks of July, our leafy neighbourhood in Southwest London will be welcoming back some of the biggest names in the game.

In honour of the tournament, Wimbledon Village is hosting the annual window display competition. The shop fronts of local businesses will be adorned with seasonal, decorative displays – entries from previous years including everything from giant tennis rackets to tennis ball garlands and Roger Federer cut outs.

Wimbledon Homes is entering the competition for the second time, with a flower garland house in Wimbledon (and our) colours!

For those looking to catch a slice of the action, numerous pubs in Wimbledon will be showing the matches across the two weeks. Pimms will be flowing at local favourite the Rose and Crown and you can even catch 7 nights of live music at The Dog and Fox.

Across London, pop-up screens will be back to show key matches for the fortnight, meaning you can watch the coverage unfold whilst enjoying an alfresco drink with friends. Head to The Piazza in Wimbledon town centre, which once again offers a large screen and deckchair seating for anyone wanting to catch up on the latest game, set, or match. Pop-up screens will also be erected in Canary Wharf, Covent Garden and King’s Cross, to name a few.
